Marketing A Blog Starts With Design

When you first start to set up a new blog or web site, you need a plan for the overall design of the site. Consideration for its intended use and traffic in important. Finding a good theme for the look and feel of your site is one of the first steps.

The landing page needs to be informative and pleasing to the eye. Personally, I hate sneaky pop ups or redirects without my knowledge or asking for my permission. I believe the day of the quick grab the customer and zip them to a get rich quick page are ending.

Years ago designers where playing with the uppermost limits of the tools in designing a site. Music and Flash, bang, boom opening pages where a way to impress the online visitor, or so they though. Today many people that hit a site like this just start to looking find a way to click the sound off. Then go to the next page for the information that they wanted first.

Make it a pleasant experience; greet the potential customer with a kind welcome with easy to find navigation. Provide navigation to “Home” page everywhere in the site. Navigation at the bottom and top is handy for someone who has just cruised to the bottom of a long page.

If you do not have the artistic ability or software to design your own blog site there are choices still available. One of the most popular web site models to use has been WordPress. It is a standardized working online presents with many choices and additions. Themes are readily available free and to buy from many different designers. However, they all need some form of understanding to change the colors and general layout.
