Amazon Affiliates and Colorado State Tax
There have been some changing events lately on how states will bring in some extra income to the tax coffers.
Colorado is the first state to try and force large traders on the internet like Amazon. com. Will there be more, are the other big online company’s just waiting to see the outcome of Amazons refusal to apply Colorado’s tax bill requirements?
At this point and time the only ones getting hurt by the new war of economics are Amazons Associates that have been shut down by Amazon. They don’t own the products, but they might run advertisement for Amazon products on their blogs and web sites.
Amazons thoughts are that if they stop all affiliate sales from Colorado associates then they can rebuke the Colorado tax requirements. So the small time mom and pop internet blogs that made Colorado family’s a little extra income during these hard times is dead in the water until these two controlling forces come to a decision.
More to come, I’m sure…
Amazon has made friends with the state of Colorado and is now charging a state tax for Colorado residents. This has reopened the ability for Colorado residents to join the Amazon affiliate program and sell on their website. Happy again…
